About Jonathan
Jonathan Thiffault is the founder of J.T. Trade Remedies. As a former senior investigator within the CBSA’s anti-dumping and countervailing division, he worked on a wide range of significant anti-dumping and countervailing proceedings, including oil country tubular goods, hot-rolled steel plate, flat hot-rolled carbon and alloy steel sheet and strip, upholstered domestic seating, nitisinone capsules, and small power transformers.
During his time at the CBSA, Jonathan also contributed to the development and updating of dumping Request for Information (RFI) templates and participated in the recruitment of future investigators. This experience gave him not only a detailed understanding of how CBSA investigations are conducted, but also valuable insight into how information is requested, assessed, tested, and ultimately used in determinations.
Jonathan holds a Master of Administration (M. Adm.) from the University of Sherbrooke and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Corporate Finance from the University of Quebec.
He is committed to providing clients with high-quality, responsive, and practical support throughout the investigative process. He believes in building long-term relationships based on trust, transparency, and sound judgment.
Since founding J.T. Trade Remedies in 2022, Jonathan has focused on helping businesses navigate the Canadian anti-dumping and countervailing regime with clarity and confidence. His expertise in trade remedy investigations and cost accounting, combined with a practical and commercially focused approach, allows him to deliver strategic advice tailored to each client’s objectives and circumstances.

They have advised corporations, foreign governments, and trade associations on a wide range of trade-related matters, and have represented clients before Canadian administrative tribunals as well as in international dispute settlement and investment arbitration proceedings.
We understand that trade remedy proceedings can have significant commercial consequences. Our role is to help clients approach them with clarity, strategy, and confidence.
